PTFE Teflon tape is manufactured by applying a single-sided PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) coating onto fiberglass cloth; PET tape is produced by double-side coating a PET (polyethylene terephthalate) film substrate with acrylic adhesive. Both tape types offer high-temperature resistance and electrical insulation properties, however a comprehensive comparison reveals that PTFE Teflon tape significantly outperforms PET tape across most performance criteria.
PTFE Teflon Tape — Performance & Specifications
PTFE Teflon tape offers a comprehensive range of advantages including low adhesion to foreign substances, high and low temperature resistance, chemical corrosion resistance, low coefficient of friction, wear resistance, moisture resistance, and high electrical insulation resistance. It is fully reusable and easy to replace, and can be applied directly to large flat surfaces as well as curved surfaces of various profiles — making operation straightforward. It eliminates the restrictions associated with PTFE spray coating, which requires specialized equipment, special processing techniques, and transportation to professional coating facilities.
Standard roll width is 1 meter, with 50 meters per roll. Available colors include brown, black, and white. Rolls can be slit to any required width, and various adhesive thicknesses can be produced to customer specification. After special surface treatment with high-temperature silicone adhesive backing, tape widths of up to 1,000 mm can be produced, available in white and grey.
PTFE Teflon tape is suitable for continuous use from -196°C to 300°C, with excellent weatherability and aging resistance. Its smooth surface resists adhesion of virtually any substance, and various oil stains, contaminants, and other surface deposits can be effortlessly cleaned. The high-temperature silicone adhesive backing bonds firmly without peeling, eliminating the complex process of spraying PTFE non-stick coatings onto dryer cylinder surfaces. It delivers long service life and ease of use — no disassembly or transportation of dryer cylinders is required; simply apply the anti-stick tape directly to the cylinder surface on-site and resume normal operation immediately. This effectively reduces labor intensity, protects equipment, minimizes machine downtime, lowers overall costs, and delivers strong economic returns. Applicable industries include packaging, thermoplastics, laminating, heat sealing, electronics, and electrical manufacturing.
PET Tape — Performance & Specifications
PET tape offers excellent dimensional stability, thermal stability, chemical stability, initial tack, and sustained adhesion. It withstands long-term continuous temperatures of 100–120°C and short-term peak temperatures of 140–200°C, making it suitable across a relatively wide temperature range and applicable in demanding environments.
Standard colors are transparent and black, with green PET double-sided tape available less commonly. Typical thickness specifications range from 0.05 mm to 0.2 mm. PET tape is easy to die-cut and process, and provides excellent adhesion to plastics, rubber, and nameplates. It is widely used for nameplate bonding, decorative trim attachment, and plastic and rubber assembly applications.
